hey guys, im really debating with my friend about energy wepons and big guns, he says big guns are better because they pack a bigger punch and that they can clear whole rooms in seconds. however i feel as tho big guns are too heavy for my already cramped storage space, and energy wepons are use fun and unrare when you get around lvl 12 or so. they also do a good amount of damage when you are high levels in the skill.. what do you guys think? Energy Weapons are beast because they add a futuristic feel to the game, although big guns pack a bigger punch, they degrade quickly, are very heavy, are scarce on ammunition, and they are likely to cause suicide.

That is, if you have the energy weapons skill high enough.
I used to notice the targeting was poor in the laser rifle and pistol.
Then especially messy in the gatling laser and Vengeance.
Plus they won't take the radscorps, mutants and claws down that fast,
but they do work well with raiders and ghouls.

Then with the Pitt, the metal blaster changed all that. So I maxed
my skills out, and with Broken Steel all are at 100. The Metal Blaster is one
hell of an under-rated weapon, and one of the best to come out of the Pitt.
People raved on and on about the 4 different versions of Auto-Axes, while
I can't say enough good about the energy weapon the Metal Blaster.

However now the super mutant overlords carry the tri-beam laser rifle,
and it looks back to messy sloppy targeting again. So I don't know where
they are taking us with the laser technology in the game.

On the other hand my missile launcher and mini-gun skills have steadily increased
as time goes by, even though I rarely use them. I'm a pyromaniac, I use
the flamer, shishkabob, zhu-rong v418, and heavy incinerator.

Flame on.

The Zhu-Rong v418 is the prototype Chinese Pistol that was
developed by L.O.B. Enterprises in downtown D.C., at Falls Church.
Inside L.O.B. as you get closer and closer to the security locked area
of the CEO, where the weapon is, you can read more interesting data
on the prototype weaponry, how they failed, and what mix finally lead
to the success. All the terminals have data, but the final one explains the best.
It fires an incendiary 10mm round that becomes super heated in the chamber.
Repair with regular Chinese Pistol. The building is huge, and I have two
looting stash points, one upstairs by the elevator and one downstairs.
There is also a basement, which is an excellent testing ground as there is a gas leak.

It can be found after you learn the Metro system.
I cleared out the building as it always interested me.

Finally breaching the CEO offices, you will find it,
plus the manual in the CEO's desk.

It is particularly valuable for firing a round into a gas filled room.
I've had it since about the time I made it all the way to GNR radio.

The broken school across the street from L.O.B. always has re-spawning
super mutants, and if you are a good character, the occasional Talon soldier.

Become a pyromaniac.  ~Flame ON!~

While burning victims to a bloody pulp is fine and all, I do enjoy the occasional pile of goop that once was a Mutie whom got caught in the midst of my critical hit gunfire. Just marking my territory, ALL OVER THE FREAKING WASTELAND!!
That's right Enclave, FEAR THE FORCE THAT IS: PRINCESS!!

Sure, same here.
Just explaining what the Zhu-Rong v418 is,
and where to find it, in the regular game, not a DLC.

Thanks man, I really had no clue what the hell that thing was! I thought it was like an Enclave Flamer or something, so I looked it up on the Fallout Wiki to find out that it was a Chinese Pistol.
Major wtf moment!

when your between energy and big guns you should make a compromise and take the MIRV and the Metal Blaster.

I'd say you should take the weapon style you like most... Try both styles out and when one seems to be more fitting then take that one.
Although i don't specialize with one weapon class... With stealth it doesn't really matter if you shoot with a Missile Launcher or with an Ion Sniper... and yes... my Fallout 3 is mod'ed... with FOOK.
