Hey,

I'm new here, just signed up after finishing Fallout 3 xD PC version naturally Smiley

Anyway, Fallout 3 being my first fallout game, I was new to the whole "survival" genre, but i was AMAZINGLY impressed, Fallout 3 really drew me in, I took a whole week off just to play it.

ANYWAY! I was wondering if there's a way to make our own singleplayer? I have a TON of ideas.

We could try and rebuild the country, from where the game left off, turned out you didn't die in the purifyer, and now you set out on the mission of rebuilding America.

Three dog from GNR is involved, and you get your own fortress headquarters (the citadel) to plan operations. You could have objectives like "Get the ghouls involved to rebuild the road system", and "find an anti-virus to make all the super-mutants like Fawkes in order for them to clean up DC".

Stuff like that.

What do you think?

Welcome to F3Z SirPwn4lot!

I think it's gonna take ages to do a total coversion like that. But I love the idea!
You'd have to set up a decent team:
Texturers, 3D modelers, landscape artists, exterior and interior builders, scripters, writers, maybe even voice actors... Not to menton a good base of operations (forum, website)
And last but not least: a construction set of some sort... Please Bethseda, give us toys to play with!!

I can (re)texture, do landscaping and interior/exterior building, from Oblivion, but we need a CS.
I'd love to bring a story where some seeds of plants are preserved and the world  is getting greener again Smiley

Hi everyone,

i like the idea of such a mod and would honored to get the chance of helping if someone needs me, i am pretty fit in 3ds max and such kind of stuff. I´m working in a small company in Berlin and we have a small MoCap system here so i also have the possibilty to record some MoCap in *.bvh. I played every game related to Fallout (Fallout 1-3 and Tactics) and would to help with Storys and so on. So if anyone is interested pls mail or post it here. Wink

If/when a CS comes out, we could start a mod like that with the community here...
that is if we find enough people here with modding capabilities.

edit: welcome freakymind81 btw  Wink

I've never even attempted modding before haha.

I'd love to give it a go though, I am a very creative person though, and I have a LOT of ideas for storyline, perhaps I could be a writer Smiley

Can't we use an editor that was used for Oblivion, since they're the same engine?

Cmon, if those clowns at Bethesda can do it, why can't we haha.

Shortlist of ideas:

1)

I met a wandering mutant named "Uncle Leo", he was disbanded from the Super Mutants because he wanted to bring peace. You have to find Leo, and take him to your newly found headquarters at the Citadel. From there he sets up a Mutant training centre and helps bring mutants to your cause.

2)

Fawkes comes back to the Citadel (your HQ) with you and sets up the Archives and Library. He keeps a track of all the citadel's affairs and sorts, he is also developing new advanced computers for a mainframe     across the network.

3)

Later in the storyline, the people elect you as president and you move a newly refurbished White House. Armata now runs the Citadel, though you can visit at any time and are still technically in charge.

I got a lot more, but thats where I think it should go, I have a friend who is WAY into 3D Modelling, we could get him on the team I'll ask him.

I'm with you guys, F3 is screaming for a CS. There's tons of people cooking up tons of ideas already, you can be sure.

When we finally do get a CS (when, not if) this place is gonna go nuts. The Oblivion mod community is still pretty massive and impressive (i've been a very small part of it) so i can tell you there are tons of very skilled and imaginative modders out there. People are doing stuff that will blow your mind artistically and functionally.

One bit of advice that always comes up, is that you really have to avoid biting off more than you can chew .

It's really easy (and understandable!) to get excited about the possibilities of modding, and run off and spin up a total conversion featuring some really great features you thought of. Once you actually sit down in front of the software on the screen and try to DO the very first, basic minor thing, and it doesn't go right, the wind totally comes out of your sails, and you scrap your pipe dreams in a cloud of fail and disappointment...

This is easy to avoid. Start small. Start with changing the color of a piece of armor or something. Then make a weapon. Then design a NPC encounter. Then build Bartertown, THEN do a total conversion with a team of 20 other people who have taken a similar path to develop fundamental skills.

Small victories are really nice at the beginning of your modding efforts. It took me two weeks to create a sword for Oblivion. I started with concept sketches, then taught myself how to use the software, read tutorials, asked questions, etc etc etc. This other guy, operating at the same time..he produced like 10 swords in the same amount of time....see what i'm sayin? Just having the seeds of an idea is not enough to produce mods. You gotta keep it real, so to speak.

Once the F3CS is out, and mods start rolling en masse, i can GUARANTEE yer gonna see some really cool stuff. I'd say we'll see our first Bartertown by the summer of '09. WOOT!

Welcome to the forum Bosch45!

I've been a part of the OB Modding community myself, mainly Housemodding, landscaping and I know how complicated even the simplest script can get... I was glad some people wrote some super tutorials for the CS and the CS wiki. Not to forget Alienslof, ScripterRon, and all the others that came up with nifty tools to help us out Smiley
Hell, to see that DarN is into F3 too makes me feel warm inside!

But you're right: I'd say let's start small: One of the simplest thing to learn is a house mod IMHO, and once a CS comes out, I'd be happy to write a tutorial on that!

We could start out making a little town, where we each make one house/building and put a character in there. But even that is hard to start with...

Please Bethseda, give us a CS! :beggs:

THANK YOU for the spoiler. I mean, why I make side-quests, play about 25hrs and don't rush with the main quest if I can read a god damn spoiler about HOW THE GAME FUC**** ENDS.
I should have suspected about the high quantity of emoticons and about it being your first fallout. I strongly suggest the moderators to edit his post. Because, seriously, I was looking for mods and what did I get?

Actually, just a note. In the actual storyline, in the lab of Rivet City, there are some fresh, apples pears, carrots and such. Perhaps you could base the storyline on the seeds "created" in the lab? Or they simply could be preserved.
Also, if this does ever get started, i think it would be GREAT to incorporate more of original fallout/fallout 2 places. IE The Den, New Reno, NCR, and maybe some other vaults.
