Be warned, there be spoilers ahead!

And also, I hope Synch and metalmania96 don't mind me jumping the gun on them for this one Tongue

Okay so anyway, as of now, I have completed the Point Lookout DLC. While I am still to approach the final mission to commence Broken Steel and its missions, I'd have to say this one exceeds all other DLC in playable content thus far. It took a few days (in that I can only play a couple of hours at night after work each day) to finish this - And the side quests, lucky for me, added in quite a bit of time.

As the boat sailed towards the boardwalk, I was overwhelmed with excitement as you are greeted with the rolling scenery of an abandoned waterside town, and you can almost picture how busy it once might've been in its prime. The large and very visibly rusting and broken down Ferris Wheel adding a sense of dread as you set off in your travels.

Basically, you start out heading up to the old mansion where you're thrown in head first into the excitement. A rather abrupt Ghoul by the name of Desmond is your first port of call, who barks at you to help him defend the mansion. Defend from what? Insane tribals hell bent on tearing your head off and eating it for breakfast. Straight away you can see the new gear as they wield axes, lever action rifles, and double barrel shotguns. And the way they do this is amazing. During your time here, you can't help but feel a sense of survival horror creeping into it as you find in one part you fall through the floor and down three stories - Only to be met with a horde of Tribals quite literally busting the door down to get a piece of you.. Almost like they knew you'd fall!

Once these events pass you find yourself embroiled in a fued dating back centuries, and I won't go into details - You can find those out for yourself. And with Fallout being Fallout, you are of course given the option of siding with either of the sides in the conflict, but notably different were the black and white choices. This DLC on the other hand, has a very grey area, and you find yourself giving it some real serious thought before making a dedication to either side.

One point I'd like to mention, though, is one of the events leading up to proceedings that is arguably one of the most entertaining things in Fallout to date. Again, I won't say anything on it and let you find out for yourself, but suffice to say it will make you go "What the..!?" in a very similar fashion to that first time you stepped out onto Tranquility Lane.

The enemies are a mixture of, for lack of a better term - Mutated rednecks. They speak in a Southerner drawl, and they have lumps all over their bodies, and are generally big and clumsy. But don't be fooled, they hit hard, and they're ultra creepy to boot. The only drawback here, which is my only real qualm as it is for many others, is that this makes it a bit awkward because it adds a sense of feeling that these guys are stronger than anything you'll meet in the Capital Wasteland.

To quote another review I saw recently:
"My alien blaster will kill a heavily-armoured Enclave Commander in one shot, but Cletus McBanjo will often eat one and still come running after me. Indeed, he and his cousins (who are also his brothers, uncles and lovers) are able to take up to six shotgun blasts to the head before they finally take a dirt-nap"
Which sums it up pretty well in my opinion. But don't be too worried, as long as you're careful and play smart, you should be fine. I only had to reload the game once from death and that was because I didn't see a cliff which I proceeded to rag-doll down.

Overall though I thoroughly enjoyed this DLC as I'm sure most of you will. There is a lot to see and do in Point Lookout - Even more if you can be bothered with the side quests and vast exploration on offer. This DLC is the least linear of the lot, and which I believe has over 40 locations to find. Not to mention the scenery of vegetation and swamps is something different to the Wasteland rocks and browns many of us are familiar with.

Go and get this. Now. I mean besides, whats 10 bucks? Would cost you a lot more for an escort to keep you entertained for as long as this does Tongue

Well then metalmania96, you really do need to get the PC version. Being able to kill children is in one of the mods I've seen on nexus there, and then you can get your wish Tongue

And while I agree the armor in that avatar does look pretty neat - Does one really need 10 million health? lol

Lately I've been running a stealthy character, so my current favourite is the Chinese Stealth Armor.. Which isn't listed Tongue

I see a lot of people are saying the Dunwich Building.. And by Christ, they're right. It'd definitely be survival horror if you went in there with nothing, just to see how you do.. hehe so I agree on that one.

Also I have noticed that there are some weird and scary places to visit in Point Lookout.. The Mansion when you fall through the floors and nearly get eaten when they crash through the door at you, and lets not forget that weirded out drug trip you take after the Punga. Just wow.

Can't really say as many of the Vaults freaked me out.. The Gary Vault was just funny, not scary. Although I'd have to say the one with the psychoactive drugs in the air probably freaked me out the most. What was that one, Vault 106 wasn't it? Anyway.. You'd be running along the corridor, aged by 200 years of exposure, then all of a sudden you'd be in a pristine Vault corridor and seeing people walking and talking. It was trippy, man!

Yeah, but the abandoned Vaults really freaked me out too.
And it's fine that you didn't know what Strange Meat was, Mayor MacCreedy asks for some of it to trade for Cave Fungus (Strange Meat or Buffout). But it completely gives it away when you run into the cannibal Hunters and they offer to sell you Strange Meat.

Don't even be like Biwwy, that kid annoys the living crap out of me!!
If you could kill children in the game, he'd be the first to die, that or Penny in Paradise Falls, she annoyed me a ton the way she wouldn't leave, so I finally got the Rory guy out of The Box, then he just ran out in front of a group of Slavers and died right there.
