hi, new to the site.  usually dont register for game sites, but this game is so amazing and huge that i figured it would be a good idea.

i cannot find the guy in the water treatment plant.  after i fixed the 3 pipes and talked to him about the scrap metal he disappeared.  this was a long time ago and i cannot find him (im 20+ hours into the game and havent seen him since probably about 2-4 hours into the game).

Creel was in the water treatment center one time when i went in and said something (dont remember what) very odd and was acting suspicious...is it possible he killed him???  any ideas on what may have happened or if it has happened to any of you?

another odd thing that happened...Burke killed Simms and i could not find his body in the bar.  later in the game i find his body next to the brahmin right by the lantern?  odd stuff

the guy is only in the plant during the day. at night he goes home to bed. he might be hanging outside as well, but at night Creel will be there, but his manner isn't cos he killed the treatment guy ...

[spoiler text - hilight to read]it's cos he's there taking drugs and doesn't want his family to find out. if you head into the lantern during the day and talk to him about drugs he'll be available to buy mentats off during the night in the treatment plant.

Did that side mission early on, it really got me thinking when he disappeared.
I originally thought Creel killed him and started looking for the body myself, after the old guy
is literally never there anymore, day or night. I sold him scrap metal a few times but then - gone.
I later thought it was because I stole some things from the water plant, and don't know
why I had the same thoughts as you originally, but I did. I thought Creel killed him.

Anyway later in the game you will find another opportunity to sell scrap metal to a
particular someone who is part of a group. If you don't make it that far for awhile,
don't give up because any vendor will buy anything, just make sure they have caps,
or something you want. So far the only thing I've seen that you can't sell is damaged
goods or certain food items of the mutants.....

I wonder what my outcome would be now that I killed Billy Creel?!?  I think it is best to kill Creel early anyways in his house...

No one sees you do it, so no one gets mad..
He has tons of goodies in his house
He has a scoped magnum with ammo for it... awesome to have early in the game.

Do you get bad karma for killing Creel?
Just wanted to know because this time through I'm playing the good guy.

Probably!

Think about it a good guy would feel guilty for killing an addict!

What right have they to take a life if he/she is so Righteous and inocent!

Why would you kill poor ole' Billy??
He's a nice dude.

And the guy in the water plant, make sure you give him all your scrap metal the first time.
You'll get lots of caps per metal thingy.
Then after that he only gives you around 30 caps.

Just wait in the plant for him.
Wait for like 2 hours at a time.
And maybe he'll finally speak to you.

Or kick you out.

I lost my guy as well, then I eventually found him dead by the entry to megaton.  I don't know if raiders or someone else killed him while the door was open, but he's dead so I can't finish that quest. Cool Embarrassed

I already mentioned my reasoning behind killing Billy... and yes you do lose karma, but I am the Wasteland Boogeyman anyway so what do I care?  Cheesy

But seriously, taking his weapon when you first get to Megaton makes the Super Duper Mart all the easier in the early goings.

I finally got in Moriarty's computer and was blown away by the
information on not only the father, but the residents.

So I think I know why you killed Billy, if it has anything
to do with what is in Moriarty's file about him.
I kind of believe it, because this is the 2nd time it appears
someone has lied to the main character, while Moriarty knows
the truth. Now I fully expect to find the old water guy dead.
Need to get on Andy Stahl's terminal in the food cantina under the house.
What a town drama.....

Sometimes Megaton residents can fall and die from the top level.  This happened to me today where I came across a body of a Megaton Settler, then looked up and it is pretty easy to tell where they fell from.  chalk it up as a rad-induced suicide.
